ADVENT CALENDAR DAY 13:JAMAICA XO RESERVE

SPREAD A RUMOR

JAMAICA XO RESERVE 40% NAVY ISLAND RUM COMPANY

Day 13 of 24

LAND: JAMAICA

ABV: 40%

MATURATION: EX-BOURBON CASKS

YEARS: –

Navy Island Rum Company is named after a small island in the Pacific, but they play big. Jamaica XO Reserve gathers according to our rumors three great Jamaican distilleries: Hampden, Worthy Park and Monymusk. It is a Jamaican pot still rum without any additives or sugar, bottled at 40%.

APPEARANCE

Clear with deep intensity and wonderful gold color.

NOSE

The nose is very clean with pronounced intensity. With the glass right under the lips the esters are reaching the nose with a combination of ripe banana, oak and molasses aroma. The second sniff is quite spicy with delicate notes of cinnamon but at the same time really fruity.

JAMAICA XO RESERVE

PALATE

Dry, mouth filling and pronounced intensity. Oak with a hint of smoke comes on the first, then follows apple and grapes. Not so spicy as the nose suggested, but cinnamon is still presented with vanilla notes. Long and very complex finish which develops moderately from fruit aromas through spices to the warmth of wood and smoke.

CONCLUSION

Definitely an outstanding spirit that will be appreciated between rum connoisseurs and people who are a little bit more into the rum world.

JAMAICA XO RESERVE

MOSER ROTH CHOCOLATE DELICE

DARK CHOCOLATE CREME 50%

At first bite, it’s clear that this is refined chocolate. Creamy, bitter and soft chocolate that is melting in the mouth. With Jamaica XO Reserve it is lifted on another level. Dry feeling that rum produces on the palate is fulfilled with the creamy structure of the chocolate. Delicate fruit flavor of the chocolate is highlighted with fruit flavour of the rum, and all together are creating one interesting and refined rum pairing experience.
