BANQERO COPPER SWISS RUM
Day 10 of 24
LAND: SWITZERLAND
ABV: 40%
MATURATION: –
YEARS: –
On the 10th day of Christmas our true love led us to Switzerland to try Swiss Rum 40%, made from Cuban molasses and distilled in a copper still dating from 1887. Awarded with silver by World Rum Awards sweetened with 30g/L sugar.
APPEARANCE
Clear in the glass with pale intensity. In the daylight Banqero Copper shows its gold color.
NOSE
Clean condition with pronounced intensity on the nose. Lots of fruit and flowery notes at the first with the caramel background. The first sniff reminds of a mix aged plum and apricot schnapps with light wood notes.
PALATE
Medium and smooth on the palate is the result of definitely added sugar. No alcohol burn. Plums and apricots are mixed with vanilla. Light coffee, ginger and baking spice notes at the end of medium but very complex finish.
CONCLUSION
According to the WSET Level 2 SAT this drink is outstanding, mostly because of the relatively large amount of sugar that improves the taste of everything. It would be much more interesting to see what the result would be if the amount of sugar was much lower. Or if the rum had been aged in a sherry cask for aroma and flavor developing.
DAVIDOFF PRIMEROS DOMINICAN
This light to medium panatela with Davidoff No. 2 leaves offers the same sweet fruity notes as Banqero Copper. Just in this combination coffee notes from Davidoff Primero Dominican are slightly pronounced than in rum Banqero Copper. Ideal for for short dessert break after lunch.
