ADVENT CALENDAR DAY 18: RON DOBLE 9 AÑEJO 15 YEARS

SPREAD A RUMOR

RON DOBLE 9 AÑEJO 15 YEARS 38%

DAY18 of 24

LAND: CUBA

ABV: 38%

MATURATION: OAK BARELLS

YEARS: 15

On the 18th day of Christmas we got Doble 9, what is actually a number 18 if we double number 9. And if the rum was 18 years old instead of 15, all of this would make much more sense. But actually this rum got its name by the highest number in the Cuban domino game. Specific thing about this column-distilled rum made from molasses is the lack of any additives or sugar. Just a pure taste of rum and Cuban craftsmanship.

APPEARANCE

Doble 9 Añejo 15 Years in glass is clear with its deep intensity and wonderful amber color.

NOSE

Soon as we approach the glass, even before the chin it comes with its clean condition and pronounced fruit intensity. On the second sniff there are characteristic oak-molasses aromas and vanilla with raisins. Discrete in the background are dry orange and elderflower notes.

PALATE

Dry with the texture that goes from smooth over short rough all the way to mouthfilling. Pronounced intensity of oak comes first. Quite fruity with hidden chocolate notes. Lots of tropical fruits come with the second sip and give this rum a sweet taste. Finish is long, very complex, followed all the time with oak and molasses character that goes from very intensive at the beginning but as the flavors are developing to the end it stays in the background just to show us that we are dealing with real Cuban rum.

CONCLUSION

If we take Cuban heritage and we multiply it with their craftsmanship, then we add time in the oak barrels we’re gonna get a rum that is so diverse on the palate, nose and finish with so many aromas… Or we could just say that this rum is just simple- outstanding.

HOYO DE MONTERREY DU MAIRE SMALL PANATELA

A Cuban couple that, on the one hand, with its sweet and fruity notes of rum, gives a perfect dimension to the delicate habanero. Hoyo De Monterey Du Maire is a panatela with light notes that perfectly combines with the sweetness of Doble 9 Añejo 15 Years. Its nutty notes perfectly blend with the nutty notes of the rum, in which the coconut note dominates and stands out a little more. The ideal combination after a business lunch to escape from reality for a short while.
