SPREAD A RUMOR

PLANTATION RUM GRANDE RÉSERVE

You know what they say: When you are on Barbados…. Drink Barbados national drink.

Corn N’ Oil

We are not on Barbados but we have Barbados Rum, and Falernum. So ladies and gentlemen I present you a…

CORN N’ OIL

They call it an old fashioned of tiki drinks. And it tastes like that. Not like Old Fashioned, more like tiki drink. Especially in this version where we didn’t got “the oil effect” from black strap rum but from unfiltered Old Judge Falernum. Old Judge Falernum is a falernum liqueur based on Barbados rum, almonds, pimento, cloves, fresh limes, vanilla… and it is produced in Austria as European tribute to the national cocktail of Barbados. I decided on this combination this unfiltered version gives very unique and special taste among all others falernum liqueurs on the market. Combination of falernums heavy notes and the light notes of Plantation Grande Réserve we get tiki notes and tiki experience served in the classic tumbler glass, where we can enjoy it even in the tuxedo.

NOSE

On the nose we don’t get so much from Plantation rum, we only get pimento and vanilla notes from Old Judge Falernun and freshness from fresh limes. If we used fresh lime instead of dried lime wheel, all other aromas would be hidden.

PALATE

As I said it before- real tiki experience. Or better: Rumaromatic experience! Cloves, rum, limes, sweet…If you close your eyes while you drinking it you can easily picture yourself on the tropical beach.

FINISH

Just like the palate. Aroma explosion that lasts…

OLD FASHIONED

It is not just our offical drink. It is also our tradition drink now, and we don’t have to spend so much words on a good old Old Fashioned. Just take some sugar, bitters and ofcourse our rum of the month-Rum Grande Réserve.

NOSE

Orange, angostura and some vanilla…

PALATE

Domination of Angostura over the Plantation aromas, which develops again, but this time more intense cognac aromas. And unusual for Old Fashioned cocktail also a very, very light and fruity start.

FINISH

Long aftertaste that lasts quite long thanks again to cognac aromas and dried orange which gives a quite kick to candied fruit from rum.

What to say at the end. Nothing new.

Rum Plantation Grande Réserve was the big suprise for me, and I hope for you also. It is definitely the best value for money, where for the first time till now you will get more than you paid.
