On the 15th Advent Day we are going to El Salvador. There is waiting for us Single Estate column-distilled molasses rum from a distillery that is over 100 years old, and as we can see according to the name the whole rum comes from one distillery. This distillery is also the only one distillery on the island, so we could easily say that Cane Island El Salvador is also a Single Island rum that was aged in white American oak barrels for 7 years and bottled at 43% abv.
APPEARANCE
Clear in the glass. Deep intensity with amber color.
NOSE
Clean with pronounced intensity. As soon the glass was under the lips, caramel mixed with oak together with hints of grass showed up. A little bit of alcohol burns the nose. Dried orange and grapefruit on the second sniff, while the third one shows more nutty aroma .
PALATE
Off dry to medium sweetness. Mouthfilling texture with pronounced intensity. Orange marmalade with vanilla notes is the first flavor that comes. A lot of oak and molasses with small traces of black pepper and ginger. With the third sip the flavor lingers into the chocolate. The finish is long and very complex.
CONCLUSION
Outstanding rum with warm and sweet notes that are delivered through long and complex finish.
