On the 19th day of the Rum Advent Calendar things are getting hotter. Abv is getting higher together with the flavor of the rum. Cargo Cult is 100% pot still rum, blended from small island distilleries across the Pacific, aged in Australian climate in ex-bourbon barrels. It is a spiced rum. Unlike many other spiced rums, Cargo Cult does not have additional sugar, but gets its complexity of flavor from a blend of different pot still rums and natural spices. We must not forget the Pacific volcanic soil that affects the aroma of the sugar cane.
APPEARANCE
Cargo Cult Navy Strength is clear in the glass with pale intensity and gold color.
NOSE
Condition on the nose is clean with pronounced intensity that comes immediately after we pour rum in the glass. Chocolate, caramel, orange and fruit notes are dominant. Cardamom, cloves and vanilla are in the group of aromas that come second, and if we keep our nose closer to the glass we will get a decent dose of ethanol on it mixed with a touch of oak and ripped banana.
PALATE
Dry and warming. Pronounced intensity that starts with earthy notes mixed with honey and touch of smoke and then delivers itself to fruity and sweet. Presence of chili, cinnamon and nutmeg is discreet with a pleasant burn. With a few drops of water the Cargo Cult opens even more with banana, molasses and a hint of anise star flavor Finish long, it lingers with a lot of complexity.
CONCLUSION
Outstanding spirit for rum connoisseurs with amazing flavor combination from spices to earthy notes all away to fruit flavors.
