J. GOW REVENGE 40%
LAND: SCOTLAND
ABV:43%
MATURATION: EX BOURBON & NEW OAK BARRELS
YEARS: 3
The last day of the Rum advent calendar brings us to Scotland, a little bit far away from tropical islands. But there we have rum made by Scottish single malt rules, or at least made by two single malt rules-pot still distillation and 3 years of aging. Wonderful story about John Gow, mutiny and piracy comes also as a part of the rum, which is by the way matured in ex bourbon and new oak barrels and it is bottled at 43% abv without added sugar and color. Respect!
APPEARANCE
J.Gow Revenge is clear in the glass. Pale intensity is paired with lemon to gold color.
NOSE
Clean and pronounced intensity. Funky on the nose with notes of ripe fruit combination, something between pears and pineapple. Lots of flowers and perfume with hints of red fruits. Caramel comes from the background.
PALATE
Dry and warming. Not so much alcohol burn. Pronounced aromas of fresh fruits like apples and pears. Some hay combined with caramel. Light touch of oak. The finish is medium and very complex and ends up with peaches mixed with mint and black pepper.
CONCLUSION
Too bad it hasn’t aged more. Otherwise it would be an outstanding spirit.
